School Year: 2012-2013. Back for another school year. Students have been working on the wiring system to get all of the running lights working. They have also installed a fan to cool the controller, installed a digital voltage meter to monitor the battery charge and they installed two on board battery chargers allowing for easy and quick charging of the 12v and the 120v electrical systems. The vehicle was weighed and the total weight of the vehicle is 2280 lbs. That is approximately 100 lbs. more than the original factory weight of the vehicle. The EV was taken on a road test and vehicle performed nicely on city streets and highway 50. It is estimated that the batteries will provide 45+ miles of range. More testing will be completed in the future and updates will be posted on range.
Testing of the Fiat EV high above Canon City, Colorado.
The Canon City High Auto Technology Club participated in the 2012 Canon City Blossom Parade in Saturday, May 5. Club members presented three vehicles in the parade, John Deer Tractor, Fiat EV and the Honda EV.
The electric bike get a custom battery box crafted by students from the welding class. The new battery box will house three of the four batteries. The shift of weight gives the bike a more even center of gravity. One battery will be located in the back battery box along with the controller and charger.
Students worked all morning on detailing the Fiat for an upcoming presentation at Pueblo Community College, Fremont Campus. The vehicle will be part of the Senior Mini College the week of March 26-31, 2012
